Bayern Munich 3-0 VfB Stuttgart: Ridiculous Harry Kane Nets Goal Number 19 and 20 in the Bundesliga

Harry Kane is a player that needs no further introduction describing his prowess in front of goal as the England captain and striker netted another brace in Bayern’s match against VfB Stuttgart today. The Bavarians were desperate to bounce back from their shocking 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous Bundesliga outing, and they had the perfect start with Harry Kane scoring just inside two minutes with a simple tap in into an unguarded net thanks to Leroy Sané’s unselfishness. Harry Kane wanted more, and he did as he scored his 20th of the Bundesliga season in the second half with a trademark header before Kim Min-Jae put the icing on the cake with his first Bayern goal.

Harry Kane Became the Third Player in Bundesliga History to Reach 20 Goals Before 17 Games

With his two goals against VfB Stuttgart, Harry Kane has become only the third player in Bundesliga history to score 20 goals before the halfway stage. The two previous achievers are Gerd Müller (20, 1968/69) and Robert Lewandowski (22, 2020/21). In addition, Harry Kane has made a record for himself as he is the fastest player to reach the landmark with 14 appearances.

Based on the record, Harry Kane is part of an elite company, and he hoped to break Robert Lewandowski’s record for the most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season with 41. With him practically dragging Bayern across the line in some matches, it would be idiotic to bet against Harry Kane.

Leroy Sané’s assist to Harry Kane also marked his best personal campaign as he has now registered 16 goal involvements in the Bundesliga with eight assists and eight goals. Bayern Munich also equalled the Bundesliga record for scoring in consecutive home games, set themselves in 1970 and 1974 with Udo Lattek in charge back then. As of now, The Bavarians last drew a league blank at home in February 2020 (0-0 against RB Leipzig), and they hope they can break the record next year in their home match against Hoffenheim.

Jamal Musiala Mentioned He Loves Playing with Harry Kane

In his post-match interview, Jamal Musiala pinpointed Harry Kane’s importance and joy in playing with the Englishmen. “He’s an amazing player. I love playing with him. He’s not just a goalscorer. He finds amazing passes. You can play with him, and he pushes us on as a team. He’s a great player to have. I’m very happy he’s here.”

As for Harry Kane himself, the striker stated: “It was probably our best performance of the season so far. We wanted to be dominant. We knew how dangerous they were and limited them to just a few chances. It was great to score twice and help the team.”

While Harry Kane may have stolen the spotlight due to his performance, Thomas Tuchel finally gained some plaudits for his team’s selection due to the inclusion of Aleksandar Pavlovic with Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka out due to illness. Speaking in his post-match interview, the Bayern managed highlighted his squad’s injury crisis: “It was pretty intense today. I tried to stay very calm and keep my distance on the sidelines to give the players a bit more trust. Today was very good, but it’s not over. We’ve got another game.”

Thomas Tuchel Is More Concerned About Their Upcoming Matches than the Champions League Draw

In addition to addressing the injury crisis, Thomas Tuchel replied bluntly to questions regarding today’s UEFA Champions League knockout draw, as he stated he has no particular wish towards the draw’s outcome.

“No, no we don’t wish for anything. The motto is: You get what you get, and you don’t get upset. We worked hard to win the group, so we’ll have the advantage to play the second leg at home. The only way to think about the title is not to think about it and just do it step by step. It makes no sense to make big speeches and talk about things that happen in May while we’re still in December. No matter who we get tomorrow, our focus is on performing against Wolfsburg on Wednesday.”
